FILMAR: OFFICIAL FILOSCOZIA® SUPPLIER @ FEEL THE YARN

Filmar sponsored the fourth edition of the competition Feel the yarn, as the sole supplier and accredited manufacturer of the historical original yarn Filoscozia.
The aim of the competition is to expand the creative potential of yarn developed by the most qualified Italian producers, and is expressed in the creation of sweaters by 19 aspiring young designers, selected from the best international fashion schools: Bunka  (Tokyo), Bift (Beijing) Hong Kong Polytechnic (Hong Kong), Niederrhein Hochschule  (Moenchengladbach), Royal College(London), Kingston University (London), Naba (Milan), and the Academy of Art Costume (Rome).

Originating from the collaboration between Toscana Promozionethe Industrial Association of Prato-ConfindustriaElementi Moda and Pitti Immagine, Feel the Yarn took place like every year during the Pitti Filati in July. The aim is to train the most talented fashion students from all over the world, to get to know and appropriately use the best yarns made in Italy, and at the same time give them visibility in a contest, judged by the visitors' votes, during the event in Florence.

With the yarns offered by the companies themselves, students created sixty outfits: forty of which were exhibited in the collective space and the others in the stands of the participating companies. There were about a thousand votes cast by visitors. The winner was Yiyi Guo from Bift in Beijing.

The awards ceremony was attended by students, Filmar and Filoscozia with the other companies sponsoring the project, the CEO of Pitti Immagine Raffaello Napoleone, the presidents of the CPF and Toscana Promozione, and Ornella Bignami, who was the tutor and coordinator of the project.

Visitors to Pitti Filati, along with a jury of fashion journalists and experts in knitting, voted for the best creation. The winning designer had the opportunity to participate in an internship at a fashion house, while the other participants in the competition were invited to workshops at corporate sponsors in order to learn the production process, as well as the secrets and techniques of the best Italian yarns.
