Filoscozia®, guaranteed by the registered
"Centro Promozione Filoscozia"® mark of quality, is a cotton
yarn.
However there is a huge difference between the
quality Filoscozia®
and any normal type of cotton yarn. This means that this cotton flock, destined to excel
by means of strict and selective tests, stands out right from the start from the more
lifeless and dull cottons due to its strength, toughness and shine and above all the
length of the fiber.
In fact Filoscozia® is obtained from top-quality
Egyptian cotton, or one with identical features, the best long-fiber yarn in the world,
which undergoes five strict treatment phases:
combing,
twisting,
gassing,
mercerizing into yarn
dyeing,
with a count of no less than 50/2 Ne.
Only in this way is the real Filoscozia® obtained, which
has traditionally played a leading part in item of underwear, outer knitwear and hosiery.
An outstanding yarn due to its soft and non-shrink features, the lasting brightness of its
colors and comfort next to the skin. For those who ask why a garment in Filoscozia®
is so pleasant close to the skin, we can reply that it depends on the special ability of
this yarn to absorb and disperse the natural transpiration of the skin.
In order to prevent gross falsifications and more subtle and
dangerous imitations, garments in real Filoscozia® are marked with the numbered
label issued by the "Centro Promozione Filoscozia"®, an institution set up to
specialize and spread knowledge of this noble and precious
yarn.

Denomination:
Filoscozia® (Fine Cotton).

Characteristics
of the plant:
Egyptian Cotton, or similar characteristics, with long
fibers.

Processing
of the fibers:
In order to qualify for the right to use the trademark "Centro
Promozione Filoscozia"® the fiber
must:
|
be made exclusively of Egyptian Cotton or similar. This means
that the fibers are 20% longer in average with respect to American type cotton which is
used more frequently in knitwear. Furthermore, the cotton is finer and for the same
diameter, the fiber contains more cotton, giving greater resistance and a more silky
feel;
be combed. This means that it is made exclusively of long
fibers, as the combing process removes all the
fibers which are shorter than
desired;
be multy-ply. Multy-ply thread acquires a resistance of at
least 10-15% greater than single ply thread of a similar dimension. This has a great
effect on the lifespan;
be equal or above Ne 50/2. The exclusion of larger threads
means that garments bearing the trademark "Centro Promozione Filoscozia"® are
finer thus adding a dimensional and aesthetic value;
be singed. The singeing process, passing the
fibers rapidly
across a flame, eliminates the superficial hair which would otherwise make the
fiber opaque;
be mercerized as skein (not when it has been transformed into
fabric). In this way, the reaction between the caustic soda and fiber
takes place with the fiber under perfectly controlled tension. Normally the cotton
fibers appear in the form of
flattened tubes (like an empty fire-extinguisher cover). After mercerizing, however, it
appears in cylindrical form (like a fire-extinguisher cover filled with water under
pressure). This determines a notable increase in the capacity to refract light, and gives
the fiber a greater brightness. Furthermore, in this state the
fibers can capture 20% more
humidity without appearing to be wet, with the consequential increase in comfort.
Furthermore, this mercerizing process increases the resistance of the thread and reduces
its likelihood of becoming dirty.

Physiological
characteristics:
it does not provoke allergies. Its damp resistance properties make
it a basic element for underwear etc. From an hygiene point of view,
it is an excellent material in that in a state of digression, it
contains no soluble proteins. It can be
sterilized without
causing damage, it cleans well and can be washed an infinite number
of times without losing luster. |
